Inventive and extremely creative, similar to Peter Jacksons, "Bad Taste", horrific and gory nightmarish like "Hellraiser" and "Evil Dead" with funny, belly-laugh deadpan, take the rise-out-of-itself, humour like Flesh Gordon.
I think one of the things that sets Manborg apart from many of the other independent low-budget homages to all the strange movies over the years is that, yes, all though it is an homage and a parody, it is truly an original and entertaining film in it's own right.

Many parts make a whole, it's said and this is how it rolls with Manborg as an independent project of "Fan Made" film-making from a bunch of cool guys who must have watched and hours of sci-fi films made during the 1980's and early nineties, from the halcyon days of home video-tape like, "Eliminators", "Robojox", "Arena", "Tron", "Chopping Mall", "Short Circuit", "Galaxy of Terror", "Battle Beyond the Stars", "Krull", "Galaxina", "Spacehunter: "Adventures in the Forbidden Zone", "Mad Max", "Transformers: The Movie", "Return of the Jedi", "The New Barbarians", "The Bronx Warriors", "Robocop" and "Terminator".
If you have seen or like any of the films mentioned above, you will have so much fun watching "Manborg" and you will know instantly what director/writer Steven Kostanski and writer/actor Jeremy Gillespie are getting at with "Manborg".
The minute things start to get a bit serious director Steve and writer Jeremy ladle on the "cheese". It is extremely tongue in cheek funny all way through, the laughs fight with the brill special effects for your attention, only an hour long but not a second of screen time is frittered or wasted at all. There is so much going on in Manborg, it's just impossible to bracket or tick them all.
Plot Outline.
In a not to distant future a battle fought between Earth and Hell, rages across the face of the earth. An army of Nazi Gestapo, half-machine monsters from Hell, led by Count Draculon, are exterminating the human race. Against them defending the earth, are the remnants of a human army, the last soldiers the world possesses.
In one last gigantic battle against the half-monster Arian race-like, mutant humanoid Demons from the bowels of Hell, the Humans fight to the very last man until he is surrounded.
Count Draculon then fights the last human soldier hand-to-hand with his machete-like sword, the soldier is ultimately defeated, held up by Draculon and executed by his "Hellion" machine monster army with their lazer blasters.
But after a short time someone or something drags the body of the brave last soldier away.
The single soldier, who was ninety nine percent dead from the battle field, is revived by machine like robotic arms in a laboratory using life-supporting machine implants, they restore and assist his body and organs to function and operate once more. He is reconstructed by the "bots" into a sentient Cyborg being, his name is Manborg.
He is discovered by #1 Man, a martial artist, wandering the decimated streets of Mega Death City. #1 Man and Manborg are then caught by some of Count Draculon's soldiers led by Shadow Mega, a beautiful but twisted and ultimately evil through and through servant of Count Draculon and The Baron.
A small band of the last humans alive have formed a resistance and have managed to survive in hiding amongst the wreckage of the decimated post-apocalyptic Mega Death City, but they have been captured and imprisoned within Count Draculons electro cells. The resistance and Manborg then join together to defeat Count Draculon and his evil warden assistants, The Baron, Shadow Mega and their massive "Hellion" Army.

The future-resistance consists of Manborg who has more flashing diodes than a funfair and who also is equipped with a machine gun arm, played by Matthew Kennedy.
Justice, a street-wise cut-off denim wearing "Aussie" in the vein of George Miller's, "The Road Warrior" films played by Conor Sweeney, who takes no doo-doo from anyone.
An Al Yamanuchi like character, expert in martial arts, a la "Mortal Combat's", Lou Kang called #1 Man, hilariously acted and brought to life by Ludwig Lee, who is voiced dubbed through the whole movie by Kyle Herbert. (Kyle Herbert has a long history of voice-acting in games, cartoon animations and films and who is soon to be heard in "Wreck-It-Ralph" as Ryu from the franchise of video games, "Street-Fighter" from Capcom).
Also in the rebel alliance is Mina, an extremely tough female resistance all-round fighter who has immense strength, adept with weapons and martial arts based on "female anime characters", played by Meredith Sweeney, who is also referenced by her name, with regard to the Mina Harker character in Bram Stokers original Dracula novel.
Dr Scorpious is a scientific genius who is essentially good but not originally on the side of the resistance his scientific knowledge is being exploited by Count Draculon, who keeps him as an advisor against his will and is acted by Adam Brooks who also doubles as the evil alien blood-drinking Count Draculon, similar but not based entirely on but looks like a vampire version of "Humongous" from Mad Max II.
Taking on playing both like some kind of strange double identity of parts, Adam Brooks is playing both good and bad characters in the film, which is a fun idea looking back after seeing it.

On the side of Count Draculon is Shadow Mega, played by Andrea Karr who was captured and experimented on by him, she has been turned to the side of evil, never to return. She was a former friend of Mina's, once again referencing Bram Stokers novel Dracula and the character Lucy Westenra.
The Baron is the warden and assistant to Count Draculon, his character is a pathetic, whining lap-dog of evil, moaning, complaining most of the time he questions himself to why he is evil. Campily played by writer Jeremy Gillespie.

Prepare yourself for an hour or so of extremely strange movie mayhem,it's everything you want and more. I've seen a lot of films in my time but there is nothing quite like Manborg. I highly recommend it. Seek and enjoy!!!
Following rave reviews after it premiered at this years London Sci-Fi Film Festival, creative cult classic in the making Manborg is out on a UK DVD 4th February 2013.
The brainchild of 70s and 80s film fanatic Steve Kostanski, Manborg is the result of three years of committed work by a team of retro b-film enthusiasts on an eye-wateringly small budget of $1000.
Manborg is set in the future where Nazi demons led by the nefarious Count Draculon and his minions rise from the bowels of Hell and take over the planet. A rag tag group of rebels fight back but their rebellion is effectively crushed, leaving nothing but scorched earth on which the Hellions plan to build their new world.
After a personal confrontation with the Count, a soldier is blasted into oblivion only to awake in the dark future to find most of his body replaced with cybernetic enhancements. A mysterious inventor has turned his bloodied remains into Manborg, cyborg of destruction.
